A native of Switzerland, Hugo Bollschweiler has been active as a conductor, violist, composer, author and lyricist. He received his training at the Conservatoire de Fribourg, the Musik-Akademie Basel, Johns Hopkins' Peabody Institute of Music and the Zürich Hochschule der Künste.
He has performed and taught at the Mostly Mozart, Tanglewood, Lucerne, Donaueschingen, Kuhmo, Yellow Barn, New Zealand and Hong Kong Arts festivals. Between 2007 and 2009, he was on the faculty at Northern Kentucky University as Professor of Viola and Artist-in-Residence and served as artistic director of the Norse Chamber Music Festival.
The highlights of the 2011/2012 season include his debut as Artistic Director of artesono visions in concert, the script development of "Grenzfall", a new Swiss motion picture and the relaunch of the City of Schlieren Orchestra under its new name.
